Former UBF Champion Mykal Fox Returns Tonight Against Arturo Perfecto Valdez in Maryland
UBF No. 20 super-welterweight Mykal “The Professor” Fox faces Arturo Perfecto Valdez in an eight-round contest at Maryland Live Casino, continuing a career that includes the 2017 UBF All-Americas Welterweight Championship.
HANOVER, Maryland — Former UBF All-Americas Welterweight Champion Mykal “The Professor” Fox is scheduled to return to the ring tonight, Saturday, October 24, against Arturo Perfecto Valdez at Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, Maryland.
The junior-middleweight contest is scheduled for eight rounds. Fox enters with a professional record of 26–5 with five knockouts, while Valdez brings a 14–1 record with 11 knockouts. BoxRec and Tapology list the matchup on the October 24 card.
A Maryland Return Against a Dangerous Opponent
For Fox, who represents Greenbelt, Maryland, the assignment offers another opportunity to perform in his home state. His experience meets an opponent whose record demands attention: Valdez has earned 11 of his 14 victories inside the distance.
On paper, that creates an intriguing contrast. Fox’s greater professional experience could be valuable over eight rounds, while Valdez’s finishing record makes disciplined defense and control of distance especially important. Those are the questions the matchup presents; the answers will come in the ring.
A Place in UBF Championship History
Fox secured his place in UBF history on November 21, 2017, when he defeated Manuel Alejandro Reyes by unanimous decision over eight rounds in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to capture the UBF All-Americas Welterweight Championship.
The photographs accompanying this feature revisit that championship chapter. The lead image shows Fox wearing the red-and-gold UBF belt, a reminder of a milestone in his professional development. It is an archival photograph, digitally restored for clarity, rather than an image from this week’s event.
Fox remains part of the federation’s current competitive picture as well: he is ranked No. 20 in the UBF men’s super-welterweight rankings. Junior middleweight and super welterweight refer to the same 154-pound division.
The Next Chapter
Tonight’s appearance connects a former UBF regional champion’s history with the next stage of his career. A victory would add another result to Fox’s résumé as he works to strengthen his position in the division; Valdez has the opportunity to make his own statement against an experienced opponent.
For UBF followers, Fox is a familiar name with a new challenge ahead. Nearly nine years after his All-Americas title victory, “The Professor” returns in front of a Maryland audience looking to write another successful chapter.
