Islam Makhachev explains declining proposed January Carlos Prates title defense

UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev said he declined a proposed January fight with Carlos Prates because he questioned Prates' title claim and believed Michael Morales also deserved consideration. Prates and Morales are scheduled to contest an interim belt at UFC 336 on January 30, with Makhachev saying he intends to face the winner. No unification date is confirmed.
